Did Sofia Vergara & Katherine Heigl get into a bitch-fight?

These are photos from earlier this month, on the New York set of New Year’s Eve, the follow-up to Valentine’s Day. It’s an ensemble romantic comedy, and Sofia Vergara and Katherine Heigl both have parts in it (Heigl got the part meant for Halle Berry). Sofia and Katherine were put together as friends or coworkers within the film, and I believe they’ve already shot most of their scenes.

Which brings me to one of the funnier tabloid stories this week - according to Star Magazine‘s insider, “Katherine’s always complaining about having to stand outside in the cold for long periods of time, and Sofia can’t stand her whining. Finally, Sofia told her to be grateful that she has the role in the first place.” Ha! After Sofia told Dame Heigl to STFU, the insider claims that Dame Heigl and Sofia just started ignoring each other.

Now, it just feels like this is true, right? It reinforces what we know of the two women - Sofia is easy-going and happy to have found a niche in Hollywood, and Dame Heigl is an ungrateful snot who bitches and moans about every little thing. Unfortunately, Gossip Cop is raining on my bitch-fight parade:

    “The New York set of New Year’s Eve is getting icy – and not because of the frigid winter temperatures,” begins a piece in Star magazine.

    The tab claims co-stars Sofia Vergara and Katherine Heigl are “ignoring each other on set.”

    The reason?

    A Star “insider” says, “Katherine’s always complaining about having to stand outside in the cold for long periods of time, and Sofia Vergara can’t stand her whining… Finally, Sofia Vergara told her to be grateful that she has the role in the first place. That clearly didn’t go over well.”
    Unfortunately, Star’s dish is even colder than the temperature on the film’s New York set.

    A source close to Vergara assures Gossip Cop the feud is “not true.” And a production source notes Vergara and Heigl worked together only ONE day – and that was two weeks ago.

    We’re also told the two women got along great.

So, who to believe? Star Magazine’s insider with his delicious story of Dame Heigl living up to her a–hole hype, or Gossip Cop’s source who claims that the whole thing is false? I tend to believe that Sofia Vergara and Dame Heigl probably didn’t get along all that well, but that both of them managed to be professional throughout their one day of filming.

Sofia Vergara is Shape‘s covergirl this month and she shares some info-bites on body and beauty:

Sofia Vergara on lipstick: “If I walk outside without lipstick, I feel naked.”

On her favorite body part: “I’m sure men would tell you it’s my boobs, but I like my eyes. They have a natural cat’s-eye shape, so I try to play that up.”

Training with Gunnar Peterson: “Oh, I hate it! But I also know that at my age — I’m almost 40! — I have to do it to maintain my figure. When I can, I try to do Latin dancing for exercise because it’s so much fun and I just love the music. Two hours before I go [to the gym], I’m already wishing it was over. I psychologically fool myself into believing it’s part of my job.”

On aging and weight: “I think when women reach a certain age, they look better with a little fat in their face… I’m lucky I’m Latin because people expect me to be a bit more plump.”

Known for her curvaceously magnificent figure, Sofia Vergara fittingly was selected as cover girl for the March 2011 issue of Shape magazine.

The Colombian beauty is featured clad in a tempting turquoise Boulee dress on the front page, while chatting with the magazine about topics such as her workout regimen to making it through the trialing times following boyfriend Nick Loeb's car wreck.

As for her fitness ambitions, Miss Sofia Vergara dished, “Oh, I hate it! But I also know that at my age - I’m almost 40! - I have to do it to maintain my figure. When I can, I try to do Latin dancing for exercise because it’s so much fun and I just love the music. Two hours before I go [to the gym], I’m already wishing it was over. I psychologically fool myself into believing it’s part of my job. And then, of course, once I’m done, I’m really glad I did it because I feel so good.”

Explaining how she managed to cope with the stress from Nick's accident, the 38-year-old revealed, "It was hard for us because it happened in the middle of the most fun, sexy time. And then he was in the hospital, and you know men, they become such little babies! But throughout the whole ordeal, Nick never once got depressed, in fact, quite the opposite. “He kept his sense of humor despite the situation."


She added, "I don’t know if I could have stuck it out with him if he hadn’t been able to laugh at himself and be happy even under the worst conditions. When you see people in difficult times, that’s when their true nature comes out.”
